Located within the former Lenoir Mall, Barrel of Fun was a popular arcade during the mall’s peak years in the 1980s. It was known for its unique and memorable large, barrel-shaped entrance that patrons would walk through. The arcade was a tenant of the mall, which originally opened in 1979, and the arcade was rebranded as “Atari Expo” when it was remodeled around 1989. The mall saw its anchors begin to close in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and the arcade and the majority of the mall have since permanently closed, with a medical facility now occupying its address.
