Lucky Leo’s, an enduring arcade on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, first opened its doors in June 1953 as an amusement stand run by Pete “Leo” Whalen. Initially, the establishment featured a hand-spun prize wheel, evolving into a block-long arcade by 1975. The Whalen family continues to operate Lucky Leo’s, which has adapted its offerings over the decades from early video and pinball machines to a variety of prize and redemption games today. Despite challenges such as Hurricane Sandy, the venue has consistently reopened and remains a prominent fixture of the New Jersey shore, entertaining generations of visitors.
