Starcade at Century 16 Theaters

The Cinemark Century Mountain View 16 and its iconic Starcade arcade have been staple entertainment hubs in Silicon Valley for four decades. Initially built by Syufy Enterprises (the original owners of Century Theatres), the complex combined the grand, futuristic aesthetic of “domed” cinema multiplexes with a bustling, dedicated game room. The original arcade had two entrances but was later changed to one rectangular opening reducing the number of games that were available. Notable games from memory included The Batman arcade game, Simpsons, X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4 player arcade games along with popular fighting games and pinball machines.

The complex is experiencing its final days; it was announced that the theater is officially closing on September 24, 2026, to clear the way for the residential and retail Shoreline Gateway redevelopment project.
