A former fixture of the Northwoods Mall, the Barrel of Fun arcade was a popular destination for entertainment in the 1980s. Patrons remember it as a classic video arcade of its era, located on the Sears side of the mall. The arcade was rebranded as Atari Expo circa 1989 following the acquisition of Barrel Of Fun, Inc., by Atari Games Corp (1987.)
While few photographic records are known to exist, personal recollections describe it as a cherished part of youth for many in the North Charleston area. The arcade has long since closed, existing now only in the memories of those who frequented it during its heyday.
