Located within the Cross County Mall, Aladdin’s Castle was a popular video arcade and a memorable part of Mattoon’s local culture for many years. As a franchise location of the well-known national chain, it provided a family-friendly amusement destination inside the mall. The arcade was a popular spot for events like birthday parties and was advertised in local papers in the mid-1980s. This venue is now permanently closed and is remembered as a long-gone piece of the city’s social history.
