Aladdin’s Castle: Parmatown Mall

Parmatown Mall at 7956 Day Drive in Parma, Ohio, opened in 1956 and retrofit its northeast wing in the late 1970s to include an Aladdin’s Castle arcade. It featured a blacklight-lit room with pinball machines in front and a bank of video cabinets—Pac-Man, Galaga, and early fighting games—toward the back.

Forum recollections note that the arcade persisted into the early 2000s, even as the mall declined; a 2002 local blog post lamented the impending closure of vintage AC cabinets.

Today, Parmatown has been demolished and redeveloped as The Shoppes at Parma, but community nostalgia sites still catalog photos of AC’s glowing marquees and patterned carpet.
