Opened by the larger-than-life Arnie Kaye, Arnie’s Place was a prominent video game arcade that operated in Westport from the early 1980s to the mid-1990s. After notable zoning battles, the venue at 1365 Post Road East officially opened in 1982 and became a popular destination for youth throughout the region. The arcade, known for its wide selection of over 80 games and strict code of conduct, was a significant part of the golden age of arcades before its closure. Done in by the rise of home gaming consoles and years of litigation, Arnie’s Place closed on September 18, 1994.
