Boxcar Bar + Arcade: Durham

Boxcar Bar + Arcade: Durham, an active entertainment venue, opened its doors in late Spring 2018 at 621 Foster Street, marking it as a significant addition to the city’s downtown revitalization. This Durham location was notable as the first Boxcar establishment to feature a full kitchen, offering scratch-made Neapolitan-style pizzas alongside its extensive bar menu, which includes craft cocktails and a rotating selection of 24 craft beers on draft. The arcade boasts a diverse collection of over 80 games, ranging from vintage pinball machines and classic arcade titles like Galaga and Street Fighter to modern attractions such as Dance Dance Revolution, air hockey, skeeball, and racing simulators.

Serving as a vibrant recreational hub for the Durham community, Boxcar Bar + Arcade provides a multi-generational experience where adults can enjoy the bar and games, while families with children are welcome during specified hours, typically before 7 pm or 8 pm. The venue frequently hosts community events, including weekly karaoke, skeeball tournaments, and trivia nights, fostering a lively atmosphere and serving as a gathering place for friends and neighbors. Its location, directly across from the historic Durham Athletic Park, offers patrons views of the former home of the Durham Bulls, contributing to its unique local character.
