Fuse Box Pinball

Located at the corner of Broad Street and College Avenue, Fuse Box Pinball was one of several arcades serving Athens during the early 1980s. The downtown location attracted UGA students, local residents, and young arcade fans, offering a mix of pinball and early video games including Asteroids, Centipede, Millipede, Space Invaders, Gravitar, Galaxian, and Missile Command.

Memories from former patrons recall dropping countless quarters into the machines, with Dragon’s Lair making a memorable appearance around 1983. The arcade was also remembered as a gathering place, with breakdancing battles taking place on the sidewalk outside. For many Athens residents, Fuse Box was an important part of the city’s early-80s arcade scene, and was in close proximity to regular break dance battles near the location.
