Located on the grounds of the new defunct Kendale Lakes Mall, Mark Twain’s Riverboat Playhouse was an experimental/pilot restaurant, playroom and animatronic presentation brought on by the popularity of Showbiz Pizza. Mark Twain’s Riverboat Playhouse was founded by food service conglomerate Horn & Hardart in the early 1980’s. The animatronic presentation was licensed by Sally Unlimited (Now Sally Dark Rides) for both the Miami and Fort Lauderdale locations. Only two Mark Twain’s Riverboat Playhouse locations are known to exist – both in South Florida.
