Namco Land at Pier 39 in San Francisco was one of the earliest examples of Namco’s large‑scale arcade concepts in the United States. In March 1990, Namco‑America took over the Funtasia games arcade at Pier 39, which offered bumper cars and more than 100 games. Later that year, on October 5 1990, the company launched the ‘Cyber Station’ brand and planned to implement it at existing and future locations, and on December 21 1990 the first Cyber Station opened—likely at Pier 39. This flagship location became known as Namco Land and continued operating through the 1990s before being replaced by other attractions.
