Atlantis the Water Kingdom, better known as Six Flags Atlantis, was a massive 65 acre water park and recreational center in Hollywood, Florida located at the corner of Stirling Road and interstate I-95. The water park was an ambitious venture which was left partially incomplete due to lack of funds until the Six Flags corporation took partial ownership of the park and funded the completion as Six Flags Atlantis in 1983.
The Park would later change ownership hands again and revive the original Atlantis name without the Six Flags branding. The park included pools, water rides, an arcade and various recreational centers. The original arcade section of the park was run and maintained by South Florida staple Robert Childs who now runs Arcade Game Sales in nearby Oakland Park.
Atlantis would suffer catastrophic damage during Hurricane Andrew in August of 1992 and subsequently be torn down. The location was redeveloped and is the current location of the Oakwood Plaza shops.
