Star Base 1, also known as Video Bob’s Starbase No. 1 Arcade, was a long-standing arcade venue located at 1545 4th Street in San Rafael, California. It opened in 1982 and was operated by “Video Bob” Albritton, who purchased the business in 1996 after working there since 1976. The arcade was considered one of the last traditional, dedicated arcades in the Bay Area, offering a mix of vintage and contemporary video and pinball games. After over three decades of operation, Star Base 1 permanently closed its doors at the end of August 2013 due to rising rent costs.
