Tilt: 615 Church St

Tilt, an arcade popular in the 1990s, operated within Nashville, Tennessee’s Church Street Centre at 615 Church Street. The Church Street Centre itself opened around 1990, envisioned as a retail revival for downtown Nashville. This multi-level indoor mall offered a variety of stores, including department stores like Castner-Knott and chain retailers, alongside unique local establishments such as one that sold ninja weapons.

As a typical arcade of its era, Tilt provided a space for entertainment within the mall environment, featuring a range of video games, pinball machines, and skeeball, similar to other Tilt locations across the nation. Patrons could enjoy popular titles and earn tickets for prizes. The Church Street Centre, which housed Tilt, ultimately struggled to attract sustained traffic and closed approximately a decade after its opening, eventually being demolished around 2000. The site is now home to Nashville’s main public library, dedicated in 2001.
