Tilt opened in August 1990 on the lower level of Vallco Fashion Park’s east wing in Cupertino, CA, just outside JCPenney, and permanently closed in 2002. The mall went through many name changes over the years, including Cupertino Square and Vallco Shopping Mall. Tilt featured Skee-Ball, video games, bumper cars, and birthday party rooms. It had two entrances: one from the inside of the mall and one directly from the parking lot, which consisted of a large doorway branded with the word “TILT”. Attached to the mall’s original food court which was no longer in use, the space overlooked another unique attraction—the Ice Capades Chalet—which was renamed the Cupertino Ice Center and remains open to this day. After Tilt closed, its former space was transformed into a bowling alley—originally Strike Bowling and now Bowlmor Cupertino—which also remains open to this day.
