The one-story commercial building housing this iconic arcade was originally constructed in 1930 and housed multiple businesses over the years, including an automotive dealership in the 1950s. With plans to open an arcade and gaming museum, Walter Day chose the 4,000 square foot facility as the site of a relaunched Twin Galaxies, which opened on Friday, July 14, 1995. At its height, the facility housed over 135 arcade games, four pool tables, three pinball machines and five lanes of Skee-ball as well as Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis consoles. Day also planned to use the site to host competitive arcade events in the mold of the Video Game Masters Tournaments that Twin Galaxies hosted in the early-to-mid 1980s. In January 1996, Day also hosted “Battle of the Bands” contests at the arcade with the goal of expanding the format into a series of monthly music competitions. Although the arcade eventually ceased operations in March 1996, Day continued his efforts to support competitive gaming by compiling the Twin Galaxies’ Official Video Game & Pinball Book of World Records as well as relaunching Twin Galaxies as an Internet-based “Official Scoreboard For The World of Video Game And Pinball Playing” on March 7, 1997.
