Westworld Electronic Amusement Center

Westworld Electronic Amusement Center, located at 4345 Glencoe Ave in Marina del Rey, California, operated as a lively arcade hub in the 1980s. It reportedly featuring around 75 video game machines as of July 1987 and was adjacent to the Villa Marina shopping‐and-cinema complex. Given its location, it drew large teenage crowds, with one report citing about 200 people inside.

The history of Westworld Electronic Amusement Center (or just “Westworld” as it was often called) is an interesting one. Two television shows were shot there, Quincy M.E. and Gimme a Break. Unfortunately, these weren’t the only shootings that took place at Westworld. The site was a common gathering place for gangs and local miscreants. Two different fatal shootings took place there in 1987 and again in 1991. Despite its troubled history, the arcade existed until at least 1997, when it was last mentioned in a local newspaper.

While the exact opening and closing dates are not clear, it was open by 1981, when filming took place for the Gimme a Break episode that was filmed there.
